Success Story
Citizenship for Vietnamese Refugee After 30+ Years
June 2, 2026
Our client arrived in the U.S. as a refugee in 1990, became a lawful permanent resident, but never naturalized due to language barriers and fear of the citizenship test. At age 72, she came to us wanting to become a citizen so she could vote and petition for her adult son still overseas.
We secured a medical disability waiver for the English and civics requirements, prepared her N-648, and filed the N-400. She took the oath of citizenship at the Atlanta USCIS field office surrounded by three generations of her family.
